After discussing earlier this week about the importance of Star Wars television, we now have rumors of more series coming to the ever-growing Disney streaming service, Disney+. Yesterday rumors emerged that Solo: A Star Wars Story characters Lando Calrissian and Qi’ra would be getting their own individual series, and now we have reports from HN Entertainment that Lucasfilm is considering making series about Captain Phasma and the mysterious Knights of Ren.
Phasma, who is portrayed by Game of Thrones actress Gwendoline Christie, was last seen in The Last Jedi falling into a pit of fire at the hands of Finn (John Boyega). Her character has been fairly disappointing in the films, however fans of the character insist her best material lies within her comics and book, as well as her small appearances on the new Disney Channel animated series Star Wars: Resistance. Fans of the character, and maybe even some of her critics, have been waiting for her opportunity to shine on screen. This may be the perfect place to do it. Now that Game of Thrones is done, Christie has a lot more time on her hands as well.
As for the Knights of Ren, information about them is still very vague. We have only seen them appear briefly in The Force Awakens during a flashback scene, and they are only mentioned one more time when Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis) calls Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) the “Master of the Knights of Ren.” We did not see them during The Last Jedi, although there have been many rumors of their appearance in Episode IX. Does this bode well for their appearance in that film or does this mean that Lucasfilm is saving them for a future project? We will have to wait and see.
