Disney+ has been making a lot of headlines recently with the number of new shows being considered and already in production for the service. With Marvel characters Loki, Vision & Scarlet Witch, and likely Bucky & Falcon all getting series it’s no surprise Disney has a slate of Star Wars centered shows on the horizon. Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian just wrapped and Diego Luna’s Cassian Andor prequel series is set to go into production soon. Alongside these, a new list of possible series ideas has come to light via HN Entertainment. The Knights of Ren and Captain Phasma are two names that appear on the list, but a third much more infamous name also appears, that of Sith Lord Darth Bane.
While Darth Bane had a brief appearance in season six of The Clone Wars the Dark Lord is known more for his own trilogy of books in the Legends canon of the Star Wars universe. The one thing we know for certain about Darth Bane in the current canon is that he created the “Rule of Two” for the Sith. This rule became the backbone of the Sith and allowed Darth Sidious to eventually rise to power and overthrow the Republic.
I am personally a huge fan of Darth Bane and think there is plenty of room to explore his character more in the Star Wars mythos. A series on Disney+ with a generous budget and long-form story is a perfect way to introduce the menacing and cunning Sith Lord to the masses. His trilogy of books, starting with Path of Destruction is ripe with content to be translated to the screen and I desperately hope this rumor comes to fruition.
