2019 is business as usual for Marvel Studios, with the release of three films: Captain Marvel in March, Avengers: Endgame in late April, and Spider-Man: Far From Home in July. But what comes after? Well, not much is known about Marvel Studios’ post-2019 plans and for now, fans can only guess about what the future of the MCU holds.
Movies like the Black Widow solo, The Eternals, Black Panther 2, Doctor Strange 2, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 are a definite possibility.
Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige spoke to Comicbook.com about the possible Phase 4 films that could possibly happen. He states that fans will have to wait until the post-release of Far from Home to find out more about the future. He said the following:
“As we’ve been doing for years, we aren’t going to announce anything post Avengers: Endgame or Spider-Man [Far From Home] until post Endgame and Spider-Man. As you know as a fan, there’s a tremendous amount of potential and a tremendous amount of additional characters and storylines and groups of characters that we’re going to keep playing with. And again, that’s a testament to Marvel and to the amount of storylines and characters and amazing, amazing runs that have been in the Marvel comics.”
When asked if there’s a possibility of releasing more than three films a year because of the impending arrival of the X-Men in the MCU, Feige responded with the following.
“We’ve always said there are no mandates to make any more than two films a year. But, as we’ve seen the last couple years, when it naturally happens, and when there are ideas and when there are teams ready to go, we’re not going to hold something back.”
