Sharpen your tridents everyone, Warner Brothers has officially announced our next venture to the world of Atlantis will take place on December 16th, 2022. This comes on the heels of Aquaman being a surprise hit for the studio, grossing over 1.2B at the worldwide box office. Word of mouth from fans and critics not only helped the aquatic hero financially surpass every DCEU film before it, but also Christopher Nolan’s critically acclaimed The Dark Knight.
At this time, James Wan has yet to sign on to direct the Aqua-sequel, but sources close to Wan say he’ll need a “great” script in order to convince him to return. Two weeks ago it was revealed that Aquaman co-scribe David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick would return to write the sequel.
