DC and Warner Bros have officially hit their stride within the past few months with Aquaman and Shazam! both being critical and box office successes, and is looking to keep the streak alive with James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. The pseudo-sequel to the 2016 supervillain team up film will add some new faces to the squad including King Shark, Polka-Dot Man, Ratcatcher, and more. MediaByte has learned the breakdown of three new characters that’ll appear in the film, one of which was covered by TGW last week.
[THE GENERAL] handsome, charming, very physically fit, an incredibly ambitious general, you just love the guy when you meet him Hispanic /Latino SUPPORTING
[THE MAYOR] an irascible old warrior, he lives for war. Male (50-59) Hispanic Latino SUPPORTING (Benicio Del Toro reportedly in talks via TGW)
[CREATURE] Muscular alien woman, Queens-tough, surly, monstrous yet Opern grounded. Major prosthetic role.. Female (20-30) SUPPORTING
Now onto the really good stuff. According to sources, Warner Brothers is interested in landing none other than Oscar Issac for the role of THE GENERAL. We’re told both WB and Gunn really want him in the film.
In regards to the “Creature” role, we’re not hearing of any actresses attached, but with the studio eyeing a September 2019 production start date we should start hearing a few names begin to circle the role within the coming months. If I were WB, I’d take a look at Vanessa Kirby. I feel as if she fits the character description perfectly.
