The long awaited search for Ben Affleck’s replacement has officially come to a close. For the past few weeks, multiple outlets reported that Robert Pattinson (High Life, Good Time) had landed the coveted role of the Batman, when in reality Warner Brothers was still in the process of choosing between him and Nicholas Hoult (X-Men First Class, Tolkien). A costume fitting was said to have taken place this past week, and Deadline is now reporting that the 33 year old has nailed down the role, and will begin contract talks with the studio in the coming days.
The Batman is slated to feature the Caped Crusader, along with notable villains Penguin, Catwoman, Riddler, Bane, Scarecrow, and likely others. The rumored plot will revolve around a semi-experienced Batman investigating a murder in Gotham and feature the hero interviewing various villains in his rogues gallery to see if they have any information as to what happened. This rumor lines up with what director Matt Reeves stated during the press tour for War for the Planet of the Apes, where he described the film as a “noir, detective driven” Batman.
