‘Mortal Kombat’ Movie Hires Stunt Coordinator

Kyle Gardiner has been confirmed to be joining New Line Cinema’s upcoming film reboot of  Mortal Kombat as the projects’ stunt coordinator. If you don’t know the name, you’ll likely recognize some of the films he’s worked on: Shazam, Aquaman, Thor: Ragnarok, Kong: Skull Island, Kingsman: The Secret Service, and The Wolverine, to name a few, all featured him as a stunt coordinator.

If you’ve seen any of these movies, then you’re likely delighted by the news. Most of Gardiner’s work has been pretty consistently great throughout his career, comprised of quite a few excellent genre films with some great fight scenes and stunts. He’s been nominated for and won a number of awards for his efforts within the industry as well. It seems he’ll be a great fit for the popular fighting game’s third foray into the realm of the silver screen.

Mortal Kombat is set to be directed by Simon McQuoid, produced by James Wan, with a script penned by Greg Russo. While no casting announcements have been made as of yet, there are rumors that Joel Edgerton (Zero Dark Thirty, The Great Gatsby) will be playing Kano, the franchise’s resident criminal cyborg.

The film is set to be released on March 5th, 2021
