20th Century Fox has released the first trailer and poster for The King’s Man, a prequel to the action spy comedy movies Kingsman: The Secret Service (2014) and Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017). The prequel is set to release on February 14, 2020 and will follow Ralph Fiennes character in WW1 and the events leading up to the creation of the secret service we know from the first two films. Fiennes character also recruits a young man named Conrad, played by Harris Dickinson, as one of the first members of the Kingsman.
While not much is known about the film, the logline suggests a conspiracy surrounding World War One. “As a collective of history’s worst tyrants and criminal masterminds gather to plot a war to wipe out millions, one man must race against time to stop them.” Will the film have more serious tone than the previous due to the subject matter or will the conspiracy add the goofy twist that The Kingsman films are known for?
The full cast for the film has been confirmed. Fiennes and Dickinson will be joined by Gemma Arterton, Arron Taylor-Johnson, Stanley Tucci, Rhys Ifans, Mathew Goode, Tom Hollander, Daniel Brühl, Djimon Housou, and Charles Dance.
The prequel does not mean we’ve seen the last of Taron Egerton and Colin Firth. Vaughn has confirmed plans for Kingsman 3 to start filming next year. The third will end the trilogy and wrap up the story of Eggsy and Harry.
