Some of the cast and crew behind Batman Beyond held a panel on Thursday at San Diego Comic Con to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the series. The executive producer Bruce Timm, casting director Andrea Romano, voice actors Kevin Conroy and Will Friedle were at the panel when they announced that the series is getting remastered in HD for Blu-ray. The Remaster will be digitally available on October 15th and is set to hit the shelves on October 29th.
This limited edition set will not only include four discs with all 52 episodes of the series, but also two extra discs of content. Unfortunately, only 42of the episodes will be remastered. 11 have become too damaged over the decades. The set more than makes up for it in bonus content. The two additional discs feature a remastered version of Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker and 15 featurettes. Additionally, the set comes with a Chromed Batman Beyond Funko Pop and Lenticular art cards. Four of the core episodes will include audio commentary from Timm and other members of the production team.
In 1999, Batman beyond premiered as a spin-off of the legendary Batman: the animated series. It is set decades in the future where Bruce Wayne is now a mentor figure for teenager Terry McGinnis who takes over the Batman mantle with a high tech suit that amplifies his strength and gives him the ability to fly.
